I would describe the service as disorganized and disjointed. Although the food was great and the menu options were delightful, we were so dissatisfied with the service and the vibe of the restaurant. Needless to say, we will not be encouraging anyone we know to visit this location, at least not for the time being. We wanted to visit right when it opened, but we waited until we heard a few reviews from people we trust. My wife and I have enjoyed all of our experiences at the Busboys and Poets locations in DC, so we were elated to see that a location was being constructed in Columbia where we live. Him, the fruit flies and the dirty shrimp is enough for me not to go back. He then apologizes and tells me how those two must have gotten through and offered me something else. Ten minutes later he comes over and the first thing he says is, “how many shrimp was it because we devein all of our shrimp.” Umm I show him my plate and said well these two weren’t and he says obviously. She comes back and says he is packing a to go order but will be here as soon as possible.

I ask for a manager and she goes to get him. Start to eat my shrimp, chicken charizio pasta and notice 2 shrimp where not deveined. We get our drinks and the apps and food comes pretty quickly. We order drinks and notice all of the fruit flies flying around-red flag number 2. After sitting for about five minutes and watching two couples that came in after us, waited on, the waiter comes our way and takes our order-first red flag. We go in and no one is at the hostess stand. I went to visit for lunch for my birthday. I had never been to Bus Boys and Poets and won’t go again.
